NRA CET: CABINET APPROVE SETTING-UP OF NRA

The Union Cabinet has given its nod for the setup of a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to streamline the hiring process by conducting a CET. The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will be nodal agency to conduct CET every year. The CET will replace the prelims level tests conducted by the different agencies for the recruitment of non-gazetted posts.

Among a list of coveted jobs banking is an increasingly popular choice of employment for fresh graduates and experienced professionals in India. Banks provide attractive salaries, a measure of job security and many perks for their employees.

The Banking Services, Railway Services and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for various Public/Central Government Undertakings are some of the most coveted jobs in the country.

An average of 2.5 to 3 crore students take up the competitive Exams of different nodal agencies. To state a few they are Railway Recruitment Board Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) exam for posts in Railways,  SBI Probationary Officer’s exam for Probationary officer at SBI. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for sub-ordinate services (Clerical) at SBI,  The Indian Banking and Personnel Services (IBPS) for commercial and scheduled banks.

To make things easy the Union Government in its parliamentary session in August 2020 decided for a transformational reform in the recruitment process of these multiple Examination System.

A National Recruitment Agency is a proposed agency by the Narendra Modi government. The government has decided to take a single computer-based preliminary examination for all the non-gazetted government posts. The agency is going to monitor all the activities of the Common Eligibility Test. Currently, candidates have to appear for a complex process of examination for all the exams. It is very time consuming and a long process.

The government is in the process to simplify the exam process for over 2.5 crore candidates. The government is taking one single exam for all the Group B and C posts. This will reduce the time and also candidates don’t have to prepare for each preliminary exam again and again.

The ‘National Recruitment Agency” (NRA) a multi-agency body will conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET) to screen/shortlist candidates for these posts. NRA will have representatives of Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Finance/Department of Financial Services, the SSC, RRB & IBPS.

NRA CET: Time Duration

The score of candidates in the single prelims exam for all the Group B and C is valid for 3 years. Agencies will use the score of CET and take their second stage exam. Some organizations have said that they directly recruit candidates using the CET score, Physical and Medical examination, without any second-level test.

NRA CET: Age Limit
